When driving through New Market, Alabama on a splendid spring day, I traveled over a ridge to view a beautiful field with the light softly falling across it. The field was lined with trees on two sides with a view of mountains in the distance. It provided a most comforting feeling. I began to look forward to seeing that field whenever I would be passing by and finally I felt compelled to paint it. I am happy to have captured this quiet moment in time from not so long ago. This field has since been developed into a shopping area and now only exists in this painting and in the memories of others who may have noticed it’s beauty.
